Not a whole lot happening this Wednesday giving me plenty of time to do work on the gallery. But before I get to work on that there’s something disturbing I have to talk about.
Olmstead and Section 504, this is in the TL:DR format the two pieces of law that keep people like me out of nursing homes which are extremely expensive and lead to far worse patient outcomes than integrated community care (ICC)
It’s pretty easy to do the math. my ICC bills come out to $4,500 per month approximately, with some being more expensive due to high physician utilization.
Admitting me to a private room in an assisted care or nursing facility would cost at minimum $5000 per month without any physician services included. This would double if not triple the costs of living, but not to the disabled person. to you the taxpayer. you would be financing the reopening of ‘asylums’ and the mass placement of people with disabilities in age inappropriate housing. A 35 year old woman with a disability doesn’t belong in a nursing home with 85 year olds dying every other day. Not only will this artificially increase stress in vulnerable populations it will expose them to infectious diseases that they have no need to be exposed to.
Calling your congressperson and telling them that Section 504 and the Olmstead judgement must be upheld is a good place to start to save your Benjamins from being burned up on wasteful, fraudulent, institutionalization.
More archive items and a few new release items are planned for today, keep track of this post for updates
Update: Lunch time, have 100 items in, once I catalog the last 39 of the day I’ll probably call it a done days work.
